Crab Meat Frittata (Tortang Alimasag)
Crab Meat Frittata is another common dish in the Philippines. One of the benefits of living in the islands is the accessibility of sea food. But even though seafood may be abundant, shellfish like crabs are generally expensive. As a way to make this dish easier on the budget, it is common to add potatoes and/or ground meat to “extend” the meal.
We didn’t have potatoes on hand today but we did have ground turkey meat. Adding the ground turkey makes the dish more filling and it also adds a nice firm texture to the meal. The first thing we do is saute the ground turkey with the garlic and onions. Then, we let it cool down and mix in the cooked crab meat and diced bell peppers.
With the ingredients mixed up, they are ready to be combined with beaten eggs and fried.
