Hard Steamed Eggs

Hard Steamed Eggs

These hard boiled eggs were not boiled!

In our search for perfect hard boiled eggs over the years, we’ve tried many different ways of cooking them.  There’s a method where we start with cool water and eggs in the pot, and then letting the water come to a boil.  Or, the method with starting with boiling water and then adding cold eggs.   Then there’s the time factor.   Let it boil for 10 minutes, then immediately take the eggs out.  Or, turn of the heat when the water comes to boil and let the eggs sit in the pot for 15 minutes.   In addition to different timings, there’s also the problem of eggs cracking as they bounce against the bottom of the pot in the boiling water.  And lastly, there’s the problem on peeling them.  We’ve tried adding salt, or oil in the water to make them easy to peel.  But it hasn’t been consistent.

Until we’ve tried hard steamed eggs!  We recently bought an Instant Pot pressure cooker and one of the reasons for buying it was to try hard steamed eggs 🙂 .  The Instant Pot did not disappoint.   Cooking time was faster than having to boil water, the eggs were cooked perfectly with a lighter, creamier yolk.  And the eggs were very easy to peel!  We’ve tried this method many times and it has never failed us and we never looked back.
